  • This is so on point. You do need to switch jobs these days on avg. of every 5 years. However, it’s harder to switch jobs if you’re in a more rural or depressed area. Being near a mid to large-size city, if you can pull it off, will help your prospects immensely.

  • I so agree. I’ve accidentally been forced to stay current by working in six different schools in different states and countries over the course of my career. But at every job, I’ve encountered dedicated professionals who simply didn’t know a lot because they were comfortable and had no reason to explore. In this one way, my love for change helps me, career-wise. (Of course, since I’m the newbie, I always earn a ton from my coworkers, too.)
