  • Having both is nice, you take out of your 401K up to a certain tax bracket. Then more out of the Roth so you won’t be thrown into a higher tax bracket.

  • Yes we need more conversations about this!! Most people are so confused they just do a minimum with their 401k, which is what I did for years. Then I started taking an interest in learning. Whenever I got a raise, I’d put most of it into my 401k. So glad I did it. Also helps prevent lifestyle creep!

  • A Roth IRA is also good for teens who have their first job. They will most likely be in the lowest tax bracket so the majority of their earnings will be invested up front. Then when it grows over time, it’s tax free to withdraw. They can take it out without penalty for major life events along the way too. Like first time home purchase and college.

  • Where are people going to pull from during a down market? Be educated. The 401k, IRA and Roth are not the only accounts out there. Do yourself a favor and research LIRP.
